Thank you to those of you who attended our Empoderando a la Mujer 2019 conference at PALCCO on March 8th.
We know that each of you have very busy schedules and we thank you for taking time to support our efforts and taking time out for yourself.
Truthfully, we cannot empower other women, it is something each one of us has to make the decision to do for ourselves. We hope that the conference provided you with the space and support necessary for you to empower yourselves and to encourage other women and girls in your lives to do the same.
For those of you who could not attend the conference, here is a snapshot of the event.
We had 250 attendees, with speakers including the president of the Mexican division of an international clothing company, the head of a non-profit that fights human trafficking, a women’s rights activist and gender studies professor, a local philanthropist and fundraiser, a well known local entrepreneur and author and a woman who started one of the first shelters and transition homes for abused women in Mexico.
We had 5 international companies send groups of local female employees to our event, which included an interactive art exhibit (finished pieces will be donated to a local women’s shelter and a maternity hospital) a bookstand by a local bookstore with books on women’s issues and a book signing by one of our speakers and we also invited high school students from the American School’s Women’s Empowerment Club and the Junior League Student Club. And, we awarded our first Young Leaders Scholarship.
The feedback we got on the event was amazing and we so enjoyed being able to offer this to our community. We are already looking forward to and planning next year’s event.
